On December 17, 2017, the TTC opened the $3.18-billion, 8.6-kilometre Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension. The new line includes 6 new subway stations located at Downsview Park, Finch West, York University, Pioneer Village, Highway 407 and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. The line also extends beyond the City of Toronto borders into York Region. Officials say the extension could add an estimated 36 million transit trips while eliminating 30 million car trips.

PLC Fire Safety Solutions engineers were embedded directly into the TYSSE project team to manage the completion and commissioning of the 6 subway stations fire protection systems.  PLC’s team worked tirelessly to ensure that the systems were installed and operated as designed, and the project was successfully completed on schedule.
